Criteria for the Builder of Year Award:

- Demonstrates leadership within the Kitsap County community
- Promotes education of the construction trades
- Assists the association in addressing construction trades workforce development needs
- An advocate of affordable housing
The Builder of the Year Award is not based simply on the quality of the homes a builder can produce, but rather the impact they have as they work hand-in-glove with the community.

Disney Gives Back
From firsthand experience, Bob Disney knows no one is immune to having their share of ups and downs. There are few moments more cherished than experiencing the relief of having someone extend their hand to help pick you up when you’re down.
This empathy has been the driving force behind Disney’s efforts to reach out to the community and extend a hand when possible.
When a rare tornado hit our small community here in Port Orchard at the end of last year, it was nothing short of devastating. The tornado was reportedly the strongest to hit Washington State in 32 years. The rogue weather system wreaked havoc on homes and families, leaving behind damaged property and emotional scars. Nearly 500 properties suffered structural damage. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.
Still, Port Orchard was left in ruins. Roofs were torn off houses, carports caved in, and wreckage was strewn everywhere. The view from the locals’ perspective looked rather grim, especially considering the lack of options to turn to for humanitarian aid.
At that time, Bob Disney mobilized a team of volunteers to do a big cleanup of the neighborhood, donating time, energy and resources to helping neighbors get back on their feet. Disney also sponsored the disposal of the aftermath.
