Hats Off to The Trailers and Tikes Annual Event!
Few organizations have the power or the drive to motivate young minds today. It’s not always easy to inspire children to reach out for greater heights. Their days are often consumed with video games, music, and other forms of entertainment and play. It can feel like a full-time job to get them to look seriously at their future and what they should do.
Recently, Disney Homes stepped in to help them to do just that. Our goal was to inspire our youth to explore new possibilities. New career opportunities are plentiful, but they aren’t always easy to find, so on Saturday, October 2nd, Disney Homes celebrated the “Trailers and Tikes” event — and it was a huge success!
The program was designed to give children a real taste of construction from the ground up. It aimed to teach them about all the different aspects of building, from concept to finished product.
Everything was organized to focus entirely on the young minds that will spearhead and design the new homes of the future. Children had a world of fun as they got hands-on exposure to equipment and tools used in the field. They got an up-close look at:
- Dump trucks
- And more!
This event was certainly not a “look but don’t touch” experience, either. Instead, children were able to observe, feel, and even climb up on these things to get a real true-to-life feeling they will remember for years.
There were many events the kids took an active part in. They participated in excavator races along with other activities, including:
- A floor joist walk challenge
- Giant Jenga
- Square croquet
They even got a chance to build a wooden project of their choosing. With so many activities and demonstrations, there was plenty to get excited about.
